She arrived in Tanzania on April 16, 2026, where she was received at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Airport by Mustafa Hassanali, the director of the Miss World Tanzania competition.
She has already arrived at the camp of the Tanzanian beauty pageant contestants and interacted with them while giving them various advice.
Opal will be involved in crowning the winner of the Tanzanian competition in the final tonight at the Super Dome, a competition that will be broadcast live on ITV and on the Miss World Tanzania channel on YouTube.
Speaking about the preparations for the final, Hassanali said this year’s competition has a unique history, where for the first time the winner will be crowned by the world’s most beautiful woman, a situation that will raise the status of the competition and put Tanzania on the international map.
This year’s beauty pageant has attracted 20 contestants who will showcase their skills tonight, with judges including Mwajuma Hamza, Issa Muhidin Michuzi, Mbiki Msumi, Sebastian Kolowa, Rita Paulsen, Hussein Hamadi and Doris Mollel.
The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, is expected to attend today’s event as the guest of honour, with organisers describing his presence as crucial to the night of celebrating beauty, purpose and the power of culture and art.
Makonda had earlier urged organisers of beauty pageants in Tanzania not to fight each other, following a controversy over the Miss World Tanzania and Miss Tanzania pageants.
The winner tonight will represent Tanzania at the Miss World beauty pageant in Vietnam in September this year.
